SCHOOLGIRL singer
Charlotte Church is to perform and present at the glitzy MTV Awards
in New York.
Charlotte, 13,
has been dubbed “Opera Spice” after meeting the Queen, the Pope
and President Clinton. She will be the youngest person to present an
award on the show, and is also on the verge of a career move - into
the movies.
The 13-year-old
from Llandaff in Cardiff, is reported to have accepted an offer to
star in a Hollywood film alongside Danny DeVito.
DeVito himself
has written the film, and offered Charlotte a part when the two met
in Los Angeles recently.
Charlotte, said
to be thrilled at the prospect of becoming a film actress as well as
a singer, described DeVito as one of the nicest people she had met,
as well as one of her favourite actors.
Her
high-profile tours and appearances on talk shows on both sides of
the Atlantic have won her an army of adoring fans, especially
teenage boys, for whom Charlotte is the latest pin-up girl. Many are
using the Internet to post love messages to the singer from across
the globe.
One boy from
Los Angeles writes to Charlotte every day through the website.
Her album, Voice
Of An Angel, went double platinum in Britain. She went on to
sell millions more records world-wide. She sang at the Pope’s
Christmas concert, and at the White House in Washington, as well as
at the opening of the National Assembly in Cardiff.
